If English isn’t your first language and you’d like to improve your speaking, listening, reading and writing, you are likely to enjoy and benefit from our ESOL courses. They will help you to deal with everyday life and work and progress onto further education, training and employment.

If your first language is not English, our popular and friendly ESOL courses will help you to develop your English speaking, reading and writing skills for your life and work in the UK.

On your ESOL course and at the right level for you will:

  • Improve your grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation
  • Improve your English reading and writing skills
  • Learn interview skills for job applications

English and maths
Whether you want to help your children with their homework, feel more confident with day-to-day tasks or get a new job, our English or Maths courses can help. They could be free* and start from beginners to level 2. You can learn in a classroom or online. Initial assessment is required for all accredited English and Maths courses.

We are offering qualifications in these essential skills from entry level 1 (beginners) to level 2 (equivalent to GCSE).

  • Maths without exams
  • Essentials of grammar and punctuation
  • Read and write with confidence

English – Accredited (from Entry 1 to level 2) and non-accredited
If you’d like to improve your English and it is your first language or it is your second language that you speak and understand well, an English Functional Skills course is the right choice for you.

Depending on your level, you will, among other things, learn to:

  • Read different texts and effectively show your understanding
  • Write emails, formal and informal letters, reports, speeches and articles
  • Improve your grammar, punctuation and spelling
  • Improve your speaking and listening skills in different contexts, including presentations and discussions.
